The new agreement guarantees wage increases of 9.25 percent over four years, broken down as a 2.00 percent increase this year and then 2.25 percent increase next year and 2.50 percent increases for a third and fourth year of the agreement. The agreement, which covers the period from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023, provides that unionized city employees will receive wage increases of 9.25 percent over four years – 2.00 percent in 2020; 2.25% in 2021; 2.50 per cent in 2022 and 2023. Richmond City Council has approved a new four-year collective agreement with Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Locals 718 and 394, which represent the city`s internal and external workers. Residents 718 and 394 cover the citizens of Richmond. While the two RESIDENTs of CUPE voted and ratified the agreement in February, it is effective retroactively at the beginning of this year. The new collective agreement offers more than just salary increases. In addition, there will be better health, training and work leave services. The City of Richmond`s interior and foreign affairs workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), have signed a four-year contract running from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023. CupE Locals 718 and 394 ratified the agreement with its members on 27 and 19 February respectively. Together, we represent nearly two thousand and two hundred hard-working and committed CUPE members in the City of Richmond. While we are all CUPE LOCALs, each local is independent of each other and each Aboriginal person does his or her own individual business. With 700,000 members, CUPE is Canada`s largest union. Across the country, workers are employed in many sectors such as health, emergency services, education, early childhood education and child care, municipalities, social services, libraries, public services, transportation and airlines.

We are the Inside Workers Union for the City of Richmond. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE Local 718) was first founded in 1953. We represent what is called the “Inside” workers` union. The general meeting will take place on the third Thursday in June. All sessions will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the M.2.004 meeting room on the second floor of Richmond City Hall, unless otherwise stated. The President and The Board of Directors of the Union may convene extraordinary meetings on specific issues that are not on the normal agenda. They also offer fall and spring education programs. By the Metro District Council, CUPE is active in municipal politics. Through our Charter, we are affiliated with the National Office of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
