Pro Golf Update: August 2016
Since our arrival back on the east coast in mid-June, it’s been a rollercoaster of ups and downs on the golf course in my pro golf events. (That’s what keeps it fun, right?!) My overall play throughout the summer months has been solid, however I haven’t been as successful as I’d like in turning productive practice days and rounds into great tournament scores.
Below are the results of my most recent professional golf events.
GPro Tour – The Club at Irish Creek
– Scores: 72-69-72 (Total: E)
– Though it was one of my best played events of the year, poor finishes kept me from going low each day. Closing out good rounds can be tough to do in tournament conditions, but I learned a lot during this week. It was a good reminder that strong starts mean you must grind that much harder to post a good number at the end.
GPro Tour – Firethorn Country Club
– Scores: 81-82 (Total: +19)
– Yes, those scores are (unfortunately) correct! As the old saying goes, “When it rains, it pours.” These were my two highest scores as a professional. It was a week where nothing seemed to go right, and I just couldn’t seem to dig deep and grind out reasonable rounds. Given my strong play heading into the event though, I did my best to brush it off and move onto the next – bad rounds happen to the best of us!
Mackenzie Tour (PGA Tour Canada) – Monday Qualifier @ Hyland Golf Club, Ottawa, Ontario
– Score: 75 (+3)
– We made the trip north to compete in the Monday qualifier for the Mackenzie Tour’s National Capital Open. After a quick start (-2 through 6), my putter went cold and I was unable to put together a low enough round to capture one of the ten open spots that qualify to play in the event.
We’ll be staying up north for a few more weeks, currently parked in Nova Scotia where I’ll be playing in another Mackenzie Tour qualifier – hoping to put it all together and post a good one!
