5 Must Have Golf Shorts For Summer
The US Open’s behind us which means summer golf season is kicking into full swing. Golfer’s everywhere rejoice as days stretch longer, the sun shines just a little brighter, and (hopefully) the clubs get more action than ever.
As we gear up for the warmer (okay, hot) days ahead, the performance trousers that have served you well on the course this spring are due for a break. Instead, it’s time to stock-up on shorts. What to look for? How about something that’s lightweight, breathable, and carries a nice bit of stretch.
Below are 5 of our favorite (and most comfortable) golf short picks for the sweltering summer days ahead.
1. Greyson Clothiers Montauk Short ($115)
Bottom Line: A luxury golf short featuring an unbelievable amount of comfort and stretch. Perfect for those who fancy an elevated short with a suitably trim fit. // Short inseam: 10.25″
For those seeking an elevated, luxury golf short, the Greyson Montauk Short cannot be beat. A satin finished, Italian sourced fabric lends a look worthy for any occasion, while the eight-way stretch found within this performance fabric makes them perfect for ripping drives, hacking out of waist-high fescue, and pulling-off your best spidey move to read those difficult putts.
They’re appropriately trim fitting, feature the exclusive Greyson waistband (read couch-lounging worthy comfort), and offer cool details like perforated camo-lined pockets. Simply put, these will be the best looking, most comfortable golf shorts you own. Choose from a wide array of solid colors as your base, then dive into a variety of creative designs only Greyson could dream-up. Just remember – if you do snatch a daring pattern or two, be sure to ground your look with a solid polo.
2. Redvanly Hanover Golf Short ($100)
Bottom Line: The first ever pull-on golf short perfect for the athletically inclined. No zipper, no problem in these lightweight wind and water resistant shorts. // Short inseam: 8.5″
Ever wish your golf shorts were as easy to wear as your gym shorts? Well, you’re in luck. Redvanly is mixing it up with the introduction of the first ever pull-on golf short. The Hanover Golf Short ditches the zipper and functional button in-lui of a hassle-free, stretchable waistband for ultimate movement and comfort.
Using a nylon/spandex blend, these shorts are insanely lightweight, carry loads of stretch, and are both wind and water resistant. Fit could be described as athletic, providing some room for movement in all kinds of activities. Hit the gym, head to the course, don them on the courts … the Hanover Shorts are great for any active occasion.
3. Linksoul Boardwalker Short ($76)
Bottom Line: Built for the adventurous golfer, these shorts transition seamlessly from the links to the pool, and everywhere in between. // Short inseam: 10.25″
My wife and I have a running joke. Every time I’m wearing my Boardwalker Short and (seemingly inevitably) spill something on them, I turn to her and say, “Land and sea, baby!” Such is life in the Linksoul Boardwalker as they’re specifically built to be worn into the water. This versatility makes them a wise investment, as golf shorts simply become shorts, able to be worn across a sea of activities.
They’re enviably comfortable, easy to move-in, and relaxed in fit. If you’re the laid back type, they’ll suit you well for the course. If you’re like me and prefer a more elevated, tailored short for the links, trust the Boardwalker is perfect for any and all off course adventures … water included.
4. Dunning Heathered Golf Short ($79)
Bottom Line: A lightweight, performance short with heathered detailing, for those who desire a more classic fit. // Short inseam: 10″
The Dunning brand is synonymous with modern performance and classic fit and feel, and their Heathered Golf Short certainly fits that mold. A four way stretch and a lightweight material yield a comfortable short on even the hottest days. The classic fit is best suited for players who want a little more room, while still maintaining a clean look (aka void of bagginess). The shorts are available in classic colors – think blue, grey and khaki hues – and the heathered fabrication lends a nice bit of texture to the short.
5. Criquet Court Shorts ($89)
Bottom Line: Old-school vibes reign supreme with this reinvention of the classic everyday short. The shorter inseam isn’t for everyone, but for those on board it’s safe to say comfort won’t be an issue. // Short inseam: 7″
One of the coolest brands in golf is brining the heat with their Court Short. A reinvention of the old school, shorter-cut everyday short, truthfully these may be better served off the course than on. But for those late day, shirt-untucked beverage-in-hand loops around your local muni, we can’t think of a better short.
An elastic waistband and 100% nylon fabrication bring the comfort, while terrycloth lined pockets with contrasting piping are the details we love to see that really set the Court Short apart. Hot summer days don’t stand a chance.
Thanks for the list. I spent some time searching for shorts a few weeks back, looking for something other than Nike and Adidas. Took a look at several from your list and ultimately grabbed a few pairs from Bonobos. I found that they were a tad trimmer than the Dunnings. Probably going to check out the Linksoul line next.
