Sprint to Streamsong – Episode 1: Montauk to Hollywood
When friend and golf photographer Matt Cardis and I decided to voyage down the eastern US coastline on a 10-day, 1,500 mile RV golf adventure — dubbed The Sprint to Streamsong — we knew eastern Long Island would be the perfect spot to kick-off the trip. The golf-rich location might seem like an obvious place to start (okay, maybe not considering winter was knocking on the door), but our course selection might surprise you.
In episode 1, we begin the trip with a beautiful oceanside sunrise, are wowed by a Long Island muni, can’t keep our eyes off the stunning NYC views of a city-owned public gem, and get our butts handed to us by a high school friend (and former Tour player) on what might be the most underrated classically deigned private in the tri-state area. Watch all the action in episode 1 below.
In Episode 1, we dive into rounds at:
- Montauk Downs Golf Course, Montauk, NY // Established 1927, redesigned in 1968 by Robert Trent Jones Sr. & Rees Jones. Public course.
- Skyway Golf Course, Jersey City, NJ // Established 2015, designed by Roy Case & Jeff Grossman. Public course.
- Hollywood Golf Course, Deal, NJ // Established 1912 (club established 1898), designed by Walter Travis, 2015 restoration by Tom Doak & Renaissance Golf. Private club.
