Sprint to Streamsong – Episode 6: The King & Bear

After crossing into Florida — our 8th and final state of the trip — we kicked off golf in the sunshine state with a stop at The King & Bear in St. Augustine.

Designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, The King & Bear course blended these architect’s styles, pairing two nines that test just about every shot shape in the bag. The property is flat (typical to Florida), but made interesting by strategic bunkering, plenty of water, and loads of visually stunning (and equally penalizing) seagrass.

Wide fairways and large surfaces make the layout friendly for all skill levels, though tiered greens and options for aggressive shot lines keep it interesting for the low-handicapper.
