Episode 14: Dunes Golf & Beach Club

Myrtle Beach is certainly known for having endless golf course. Through quantity doesn’t always mean quality, the Dunes Golf & Beach Club certainly delivers the latter.

 

In a few short months on the Ultimate Golf Road Trip we’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many great people. This round was no different, as we teed it up with States, a freshman on the Coastal Carolina University golf team.

States showed us around the course, where the team plays weekly. The golf course itself is relatively straight forward, but does require some good play to score well.

The most noticeable aspect is the use of bunkering throughout. There’s rarely a tee shot where a bunker doesn’t come into play, and each green is peppered with surrounding sand.

It’s the kind of white sand that photographs well, but also gives you the consistency needed to have a chance at getting wayward approaches up-and-down.

We caught the course on a particularly cold and windy day, so I need to give a shout out to Brittany for bearing the cold weather to ride along and capture the entire round! What a trooper.

I should note that the Dunes Golf & Beach Club is technically public, but it does require a stay at a partner resort in order to gain access to the golf course.

Still, this is one of the best courses you’ll find in the Myrtle Beach area and well worth a stay-and-play weekend.
